Departure for a visit to the Royal Palace, relocated from the former capital Oudong in 1863, followed by the Silver Pagoda (more than 5,000 silver tiles cover the floor), home to the 90 kg gold Maitreya Buddha statue. Visit the Central Market, renovated thanks to a donation from France, then the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). You will continue on to Ounalom Pagoda, built in 1443, the most important pagoda in Phnom Penh.

2Afternoon Phnom Penh - City TourIn the afternoon, cross by ferry over the Tonle Sap Lake. Stroll around Silk Island (Koh Dach), which owes its nickname to the many weavers working silk beneath the stilts of their wooden houses. Visit Wat Phnom (the hilltop pagoda), renovated in 1926. At the foot of the hill stands a bas-relief honoring the Franco-Siamese treaty, sculpted by Theodore Riviere.

3Evening Phnom Penh - City TourIn the evening, a short private boat cruise along the riverside quays and toward the Chroy Changvar peninsula (weather and timing permitting, sunset over the Royal Palace). Overnight in Phnom Penh.

1Morning 07:30 Phnom Penh - Mondulkiri7:30 AM: Meet at the hotel reception, then direct departure for Mondulkiri (5 hours by road). One of the most unspoiled and remote provinces of Cambodia, home to numerous ethnic minorities. Lunch on your own.

2Afternoon Phnom Penh - MondulkiriIn the afternoon, visit Mondulkiri town center and discover two hills: Sea Forest Hill and Dosh Kromom. Return to the hotel.

Day 4 - Mondulkiri

1Morning 08:00 Mondulkiri8:00 AM: Meet with the group leader for a shared departure. An English-speaking local guide accompanies you to discover Poutain village, home to the Phnong (the majority ethnic group). There you will see their traditional communal longhouses, now largely abandoned in favor of sturdier wooden houses. During this walk with the elephants, you will pass through lush greenery along a river. The elephants work no more than three hours a day; from mid-morning to mid-afternoon they are released to feed and rest. A picnic lunch is included and taken along the way. By the riverside: option to bathe or wash the elephant. Late in the day, return to town. Overnight in Mondulkiri.

Day 5 - Mondulkiri - Kratie

1Morning 08:00 Mondulkiri - Kratie8:00 AM: Meet up, then head to Bou Sra Waterfall, the largest and most beautiful in Cambodia, cascading over three levels. Visit Pich Chreada village, where you will discover a coffee plantation and pepper vines. Then, departure for Kratie (3 hours by road). Cruise on the Mekong River to observe Irrawaddy dolphins, an endangered species protected in Kratie as part of an Australian environmental conservation program. Depending on your fitness, option to climb Sambok Hill for a panoramic view over the region. Overnight in Kratie.

Day 6 - Kratie - Kampong Thom - Siem Reap

Pass through Kampong Thom town center and discover the site of Sambor Prei Kuk, dating from the 7th and 8th centuries, with its brick monuments. Lunch on your own.

2Afternoon Kratie - Kampong Thom - Siem ReapVisit the famous Spean Praptos Bridge, located in Kampong Kdei village, built in sandstone and laterite by King Jayavarman VII between the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Continue on to Siem Reap.

Day 7 - Siem Reap - Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm and Angkor Wat

Discover the Bayon, with its 54 towers bearing gigantic, enigmatic four-faced carvings, then the Baphuon (a three-tiered pyramid, a major restoration project of the EFEO), the Royal Palace, the Terrace of the Leper King, adorned with apsara figures, and the Terrace of the Elephants. Then visit Ta Prohm temple, overrun by silk-cotton trees, where scenes from the Lara Croft film were shot. Lunch on your own.

Then discover Banteay Samre temple, fully restored, which gives a good sense of what old Angkor once looked like.

2Afternoon Siem ReapIn the afternoon, visit the sites of the Eastern Baray (the "Grand Circuit"): Pre Rup, East Mebon, Ta Som, Neak Poan, Preah Khan. Option to admire the sunset from Phnom Bakheng temple. Overnight at the hotel.

Walk along the walkways of this fishing village perched on towering stilts, then transfer to a small boat to explore the forest submerged for six months of the year after the rainy season, and the petrified forest in the dry season. This isolated, traditional village can only be reached by boat; its inhabitants live from fishing and crocodile farming. The monastery and school are also built on stilts, as the lake's water level rises several meters after the rainy season. Lunch on your own. Then discover the monuments of the Roluos Group.

About 1.5 hours to reach the summit, then visit the River of a Thousand Lingas, stretching 247 meters, and the pagoda housing the great reclining Buddha. At the end of the visit, discover the waterfall, with the option to bathe. Return to Siem Reap, stopping along the way to see palm sugar production and experience authentic countryside life. In town, discover Siem Reap's most beautiful pagoda, Wat Preah Prum Roth, then pass by the craft workshops (Artisans d'Angkor, Senteurs d'Angkor).

Day 11 - Siem Reap - Battambang

1Morning Siem Reap - BattambangAfter breakfast, visit craft workshops (Senteurs d'Angkor, a silk farm), then head to Battambang (3 hours). Several stops along the way to see bamboo product-making, and a local market with its specialties: star-shaped cakes, fried insects, charcoal-grilled chicken. Arrival in Battambang, visit a traditional house in Wat Kor village, built during the colonial era and run by the third generation of the same family. Then head to Phnom Sampeou (16 km from Battambang). Atop a limestone outcrop stands a temple complex now home to monkeys, offering a superb view over the surrounding plains. Overnight in Battambang.

1Morning BattambangMorning: discover Cambodia's second-largest city. Stop at the vibrant local market. We follow the river along its right bank to visit Wat Samroung Knong, built in 1707 (an old pagoda decorated with precious wood); behind it lies the mass grave of children from the Khmer Rouge era. Optional, depending on time available: cross the river to visit a rice-cracker workshop, see how krolann (sticky rice roasted in bamboo) is prepared, the prahoc (fermented fish paste) market, Ek Phnom temple, an incense-stick workshop, Vat Damrei Sa pagoda (early 20th century), and a ride on the "Bamboo Train".

1Morning Battambang - Phnom PenhDepart Battambang for the small town of Pursat, halfway to Phnom Penh. In Pursat, visit Kampong Luong by private boat, an astonishing floating town of nearly 12,000 inhabitants that shifts position with the lake's water level and offers a range of amenities: doctors, restaurants, schools. Return toward Phnom Penh via Kampong Chhnang province, famous for its floating village and pottery. Time permitting: visit the goldsmiths' village, and 36 km before Phnom Penh, visit the province's most beautiful pagoda, at the foot of Oudong Hill (Cambodia's former capital from the 17th to the 19th century). Overnight in Phnom Penh.
