Most visitors to Cambodia need a visa, but the process is straightforward once you know your options — and a little preparation before departure saves time and hassle at the border.
E-Visa (recommended)
The easiest route for most nationalities is Cambodia's official e-Visa, applied for online before you travel. It typically costs around $30, takes a few business days to process, and is valid for a single entry within three months of issue. Always apply through the official government e-visa website — third-party sites often charge inflated fees for the same service.
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival is also available at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports, as well as most major land borders, for a similar price paid in cash (US Dollars). You'll need a passport-sized photo and a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages remaining.
Land border crossings
Cambodia shares busy overland crossings with Thailand (Poipet), Vietnam (Bavet, near Ho Chi Minh City), and Laos (Dong Kralor). Rules and queues can vary by crossing, so it's worth checking current requirements shortly before you travel, particularly if combining Cambodia with a wider Indochina trip.
